Artist Profile: Mr. Saumya Bandyopadhyay

Mr. Saumya Bandyopadhyay is a distinguished visual artist, sculptor, and academic leader with over two decades of versatile experience spanning the realms of art, design, and education. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of Foundation Studies at Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), Ahmedabad, he has a rich academic background, including an MFA in Creative Sculpture from the University of Delhi and recognition as a UGC-NET-qualified scholar.

Mr. Bandyopadhyay’s artistic achievements include numerous solo exhibitions, such as those held at Amdavad ni Gufa, Ahmedabad (2021), Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery, Pune (2015), and Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi (2007). His work has also been showcased in prestigious group exhibitions, including 079 Stories, Ahmedabad, and at galleries like Artlaureate, New Delhi, and The Verandah, Kolkata. As an award-winning artist, his accolades include the Pradosh Dasgupta Memorial Award cum Scholarship (2001), 1st Prize from College of Art, New Delhi (2002), and the Sunil Das Scholarship (1999).

With a dynamic career, he has also made significant contributions to the field of exhibition and theme-based event design. His innovative work extends into light installations and puppetry, notably as a Puppet Designer for NDTV’s “Gustakhi Maaf.” His dedication to cultural and design excellence, coupled with his academic leadership, continues to inspire the next generation of creative minds
